The Sony bdp-s360 1080p blu-ray disc player review: offering high performance without the expensive price tag

The day has finally come when major brand name Blu-ray players have become affordable enough for the average Joe. Listing at under $150 at Amazon, the Sony BDP-S360 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player is not only a Sony, and a Blu-ray player, which is probably enough to make it a great deal, but it also has plenty of the more advanced features that one would expect to see in a much higher end Blu-ray player.
Not only can the Sony BDP-S360 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player output in full 1080p HD, but it can also upscale your standard DVDs to look much better on your HD television. If you have a large DVD collection and a nice, new HDTV, you have probably noticed that your old DVDs look pretty terrible. You may have also noticed that a lot of less expensive devices claim to be able to up-convert, including cheap Blu-ray players, but all they really do is strategically expand the picture to fit the wider screen. True HD up-convert will bring your DVDs up to near HD quality.

Audiophiles will love the Dolby TrueHD and dts HD- 7.1 Analog audio which sacrifices nothing by using audio compression instead of removing parts of the audio as many other codecs do. The quick start mode ensures that the Blu-Ray player will be up and ready to go within about six seconds of hitting the power button. Another extremely cool feature of the Sony BDP-S360 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player is the Ethernet port. This can be used to access extra features on specially designed DVDs.
This Blu-ray player is nothing short of amazing for the money. If you don’t have one, get it. If have a cheap one, replace it. You’ll be glad you did.

The original Sony Blu-ray player was very slow in loading Blu-Ray disks, sometimes taking up to 10 minutes before the movie could be played. This latest version on Sony’s Blu-Ray player seems to have corrected all of the problems it’s predecessor had……...Read the complete review here
Robert K,
This was my first purchase into the bluray world – and it didn’t disappoint but in a totally surprising way. The unit is sturdy, quiet, and runs flawlessly. I had been worried about firmware updates but so far there have been no reason to update it – so no complaints there. I ordered some bluray discs (despite the ridiculous cost of them) and they are spectacular. Now for the surprise……..Read the complete review here
